By and by, this awe-inspiring diamond has a whole other universe of collective excellence and the technological miracle. Here are the best things to do in Salalah, and the most awe-inspiring locations.
The town is the birthplace of the current Omani king, Sultan Qaboos, and is situated in southern Oman’s Dhofar Governorate. It is Oman’s second-largest city, yet the largest in Dhofar, and the largest ocean port in the Arab Peninsula. From the north, in the middle of the Khareef season, the city is welcomed by a mountain stretch that turns green with dynamite cascades. It has a long beautiful coastline from the south that is lined with white sands.
Al Mughsail Beach
Al Mughsail beach is situated in southern Oman, in Salalah. This has white beaches, and crystal clear seas. What adds to the charm of the beach is the green mountain surrounding it, as well as the natural fountains overflowing from its rocky edges.
Sultan Qaboos Mosque
Salalah also has one of Oman’s most renowned Sultan Qaboos mosques. The mosque is in the middle of town and is an architectural wonder. It has two wide domes, and two tall minarets, all white and decorated with golden shapes. The interior of the mosque is adorned with beautiful lanterns, the walls are embossed with unique designs and the floor is covered with green rugs. The Sultan Qaboos Mosque reflects the beautiful Omani architecture, and is one of Salalah’s must-visit attractions.
Al Marneef Cave
The Marneef Cave is situated in Salalah, near Al Mughsail Beach. This place’s beauty starts with the surrounding mountain which has many benches for tourists to enjoy the wonderful view of the beach and the blowholes–Al Marneef Blowholes, also called Al Mughsail Blowholes or Fountains. Such holes in the ground are known as sea caves, from which underwater waters pass, creating wonderfully large fountains that spray water around them. Al Marneef Cave is the ideal escape for all nature lovers among the white sandy beach, the majestic mountain, the deep cave and the charming fountains.
