Based on the decision issued by the supreme committee on Covid -19 including the decision to reopen beaches, visitors can now apply for night stay permits and visit to Daymaniyat island nature reserve.
Precautionary measures and conditions necessary to prevent the spread of the disease adhere to , the environment authorities said.permits can be applied through the authorities e-service system www.meca.gov.om
Visitors to the Daymaniyat island natural reserve will have to pay an entrance fee as the ministry of environment and climate affairs looks to encourage sustainable tourism and boost the local economy. The ministry also released the regulations of camping, hunting and visitors time that will help to protect the biodiversity of the reserve. Entry to the park or camping overnight is prohibited without the ministry permission.
Camping in the island during the bird nesting season from May 1 to the end of October is also prohibited. The decision also prohibits any attempt to collect fossils,relics or stones , or any other natural assets from the area. Lighting the fire in places or areas other than designated or without permission is also banned. The decision bans any activities or action that would harm coral reefs and neighborhoods or disturbing the nesting birds or turtles.
Leaving fishing net in coral reefs, bringing pets or any other animals or any plants or seeds to the reserve are also banned.
Driving within the limits of the reserve is banned unless there is a permit from the ministry. It also prohibits conducting study and research or collecting samples for any reason, except with the permission of the ministry. The use of camera and drones will be allowed with the permission of the ministry.
Only employees of the reserve will be allowed to use arms or weapons.
Members of the sultanate, Armed forces, government employees on official duty, employees in governmental and academic institutions doing research work , fisherman around the reserve and governmental officials are excempted from paying fees.
Any individuals who violate the provisions shall be fined not less than RO 100 and not exceeding RO 300.
Fines will be doubled in case of repeating violations.
