Misfat al Abriyeen

Misfat Al Abriyeen, Oman is a small mountain village situated 1000 m above sea level on the foothills surrounding wilayat Al Hamra in the governorate of Al Dhakhiyla. The village derives its name from the Al Abri tribe, originally from Al Abriyeen and Al Hamra Misfat. Due to the many features which make it a wonderful experience for any traveler, Misfat Al Abriyeen, Oman has become quite an attractive tourist destination in recent years. The village boasts spectacular farm terraces, charming alleys, and old houses constructed on strong rocks. The combination of these elements gives a tourist a dramatic picture from the viewing platform to Misfat Al Abriyeen which is a short walk from the village entrance. Most Misfat Al Abriyeen, Oman villagers rely for their livelihood on the agricultural terraces, where bananas, pomegranates, papayas, mangoes, citrus trees and, of course, palm trees are grown. Such terraces along the slopes of the mountains are fed by an elaborate falaj network cut through the hard rocks of the mountain and supplied from a source of spring that can be reached by following a short track along the falaj.
